Announcing the Shmuel Kandel Awards for Outstanding PhD Students in Financial Economics

The Utah Winter Finance Conference announces two new awards to outstanding PhD students in financial economics honoring the memory of Shmuel Kandel. A prize of $2,500 will be awarded to an outstanding international PhD student in the dissertation writing stage and a prize of $1,500 will be awarded to a PhD student writing a dissertation in financial economics at a North American University. Both students will attend the UWFC and will participate in the Student Utah Winter Finance Conference (SUWFC) held the Friday following the UWFC at the University of Utah.

The SUWFC mimics the UWFC. Each participating PhD student at the SUWFC is assigned a paper to present and a paper to discuss. The time slot given to presenters and discussants is identical to the time given at the UWFC. The actual assignments of papers to the various students are announced at the conclusion of the UWFC.  Guest PhD students have participated in the SUWFC. Furthermore the SUWFC was held at Tel Aviv University (as a course) and at the University of New South Wales. The selected students will be provided with office facilities for the week between the UWFC and the SUWFC.
